The brand - Osnabrück's strengths

The citizens have voted on what they find most attractive in Osnabrück. "We want to utilise these strengths to position Osnabrück successfully and sustainably in the competition between cities," says Lord Mayor Katharina Pötter. "Every citizen can become a brand ambassador for their own city. The high number of participants in the survey shows that this can be achieved," says a delighted Pötter.

Focus: SMEs and the start-up scene

Osnabrück scores highly as a business location with successful companies and modern workplaces. Particularly important for skilled workers (and citizens) are the healthy SME sector with its many local family businesses and a lively start-up landscape with the Startup Osnabrück network.

Focus: Universities as part of city life

Science is a visible and tangible part of urban society in Osnabrück: the wide range of study programmes attracts students who shape the face of the city; universities/research institutes network and provide impetus for business/start-ups . This can be felt in the city culture.

Focus: Cityscape with historical flair

The historic city centre with the town hall of the Peace of Westphalia is one of Osnabrück's flagships. It is the historical facets of the cityscape in particular that create identification and attractiveness - but woodland and green spaces ("green fingers") are also part of Osnabrück's brand DNA.

From the population's point of view, the flagships of Osnabrück's leisure activities are the zoo and the city festivals such as the May Week and the Christmas market.
