Nackte Mühle

Mills, Place to see
Construction of the Nackte Mühle watermill began in 1235.

Around 1786, there was an oil, boke and snuff mill in addition to the flour mill, as well as a sawmill from around 1900. The water wheel of the sawmill was replaced in 1938 by a Francis shaft turbine with a horizontal shaft. Since 1988, the Verein für Jugendhilfe e.V. has leased the sawmill, which was shut down in 1967, from the Böhne family and restored it with a great deal of support. After the turbine, transmission and saw frame were put back into operation in 1995, various restoration measures were also carried out, e.g. on the bridge, in the timber yard and on the building. The Nackte Mühle technical-ecological learning site has been established here since 1996. A piece of cultural and technical history can be experienced at Osnabrück's only sawmill. In addition, the closely interlinked habitats can be discovered and played with on the 2.5-hectare mill site. Exciting environmental education events are offered all year round for school classes, kindergarten groups, etc., as well as for leisure activities.
