From the extinction of the dinosaurs to the World Climate Report: Paleontology's contribution to the challenges of the 21st century

Paleontology has long since left its dusty image behind and is now delivering politically relevant results on the interplay between climate change and biodiversity on different time scales. Wolfgang Kiessling from FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg has been actively involved in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for many years and will report in his lecture on which paleontological results are particularly in demand.
