To complement the special exhibition on Felka Platek, Theater Osnabrück has developed a scenic search for clues that leads into the life of this hitherto little-noticed artist. The Polish-born Jewish painter set off in the early 1920s to study art in Berlin. As a woman, a Jew and a Pole, it was difficult for her to achieve fame and recognition. At Felix Nussbaum's side and on the run from the National Socialists, she lived through various stages until her deportation to Ausschwitz. What remains is a fragment of a young, aspiring artist.
The admission ticket to the theater entitles you to visit the special exhibition on Felka Platek one hour before the performance begins. With 28 paintings, the Museumsquartier Osnabrück owns the world's largest Platek collection and is dedicating a solo exhibition to her, which focuses on her as an artist in her own right, rather than just honoring her as a motif and supporter of her much better-known husband Felix Nussbaum.
