Reading and discussion
CLEMENS MEYER, born in Halle / Saale in 1977, made his highly successful debut in 2006 with "Als wir träumten". He has received numerous awards for his extensive body of work, including the Klopstock Prize for New Literature. His novel "Die Projektoren" is currently on the shortlist for the German Book Prize.
In the Velebit Mountains, a former partisan experiences the adventurous filming of the Winnetou movies. Decades later, the brutal battles of the Yugoslav Wars take place here - in the midst of it all, a group of young right-wing radicals from Dortmund are forced to experience the futility of their ideology. And in Leipzig, the texts of a former patient are discussed at a conference in a psychiatric clinic: How did he manage to disappear without a trace? And what connects him to the world traveler Dr. May? An epic about Europe's crises and the art of storytelling.
Dr. Jens Peters will moderate.
