A live reportage by Markus Mauthe
With first-class landscape shots, powerful portraits and unique film sequences, renowned nature photographer Markus Mauthe paints an artistic portrait of our planet that invites us to dream and reflect at the same time.
For his current project, which was created in collaboration with the environmental protection organization Greenpeace, he set off with journalist Louisa Schneider to various regions of the world where the climate is at risk of tipping over. The aim was to document and make visible the extent of the climate crisis and the consequences for people and biodiversity.
Mauthe reports on his research trips to the Sahel region of Senegal and the Amazon forest in Brazil. He takes the audience with him to the Canadian tundra and the ice worlds of Greenland. In the waters of the Galapagos Islands and the coral reefs of Australia, he shows just how fantastic our planet looks underwater.
Markus Mauthe also focuses his camera on the drastic effects of the climate crisis: floods, coastal erosion, drought, forest fires and thawing permafrost are already a reality for many people. Markus Mauthe and Louisa Schneider talk to local people who are being unfairly affected by these changes. Together they discuss their activism, their hopes and their ideas on how we can protect our planet. Through these filmed interviews, viewers experience committed people in the show who are actively involved in environmental protection and encourage people to think about a more sustainable future.
Standing together: An appeal to us all
We live in troubled times - crises are increasingly determining our everyday lives. At a time when the tone within our society is also becoming rougher, it is all the more important that we stick together and take action together - "right now". Because in our globalized world, nothing is really far away anymore. With this live reportage, Mauthe wants to make a contribution so that we humans can stand together. "Only together can we solve the big problems of our time!"
"DIE REISE ZUM KLIMA" is a passionate appeal to us all to work together to build a sustainable society, for a healthy planet and a fair, liveable future for all people!
As always when Markus Mauthe is on stage, this reportage is first and foremost an artistic work that celebrates the beauty of our planet and shows us why it is not too late to actively fight for its preservation.
