What's different in Osnabrück at Christmas than anywhere else in the world? That's right: only here there are concerts at the Blue Note with the (world-famous in Osnabrück) Blues Company!
For 19 years in a row, only 2020 unfortunately canceled due to the pandemic, the band around the charismatic bandleader Tosho Todorovic has been delighting their loyal audience in their "Osnabrück living room"! Due to popular demand, the band will be playing their acoustic show on Christmas Day and their "loud" program in a large formation on the following three days. The core line-up of Mike Titre, Arnold Ogrodnik and Florian Schaube will be joined by Prof. Volker Wink on saxophone and Uwe Nolopp (the Fab. BC Horns) as well as the "Soul Sistaz" Elif Batman and Seda Devran. This means that the Blues Company will be performing with eight members - and not on a large festival stage as usual, but in a cozy club.
You can hear and see a program with highlights from the 35 releases released so far and many stories from the band's 48-year (!) history, as well as many songs that have been requested by the audience again and again.
This includes "Blue and Lonesome", the Blues Company's biggest success to date. The award-winning American film producer and screenwriter Ian Gurvitz knocked on the door of the Blues Company and its record label in the fall of 2006: he wanted the song as the theme music for his film "L.A. Blues". It was probably the first time that Hollywood had imported a blues song from Germany. In addition to numerous concerts within and outside Europe (including Turkey, Israel, Russia and Georgia), this makes it clear that the Blues Company is an internationally successful ambassador for the city of Osnabrück.
And invites you to a home game at Christmas: the setlist for 2024 includes songs from their current CD/double LP "United Nations Of Blues", with which they spent many weeks at number 1 in the blues charts.
In addition to some Christmas blues classics, they will also be playing their "Silent Night", the band's most successful song with well over six million downloads!
