The prizewinner:instück is framed by the Notturno op. 70 by Giuseppe Martucci and the Symphony No. 4 by Franz Schubert. Martucci was an Italian pianist, composer and conductor who lived in the second half of the 19th century. He was a contemporary of Verdi, but did not compose operas and can be described as the only Italian symphonist. The Notturno op. 70 is a musical rarity characterized by romantic longing. Schubert composed his Tragic Symphony at the age of 19. Like Mozart, at such a young age he already possessed a musical maturity and an understanding of human emotions that enabled him to create works of genius.
