Fountains, fountains, pools - there are many water features in Osnabrück by very different artists from different decades. Some you can move yourself, others you can 'only' admire. They have been created since the 1970s by architects and sculptors, ceramicists and also by the city's building and civil engineering department. The sculptor Hans Gerd Ruwe created the most and probably best-known works.
The initiative "Osnabrück, fountains then and now" has been in existence since 2023, with Simon Marius Hagedorn campaigning for the fountains in the city. He has catalogued the locations and collected historical photos.
