New fountain field

Sculpture, Place to see

The original fountain basins were designed by Professor Werner Lendholt in 1964 and created by the architect Pätzold. They consisted of six square water basins, three on the east side and three on the west side. Within each of these basins was a square fountain frame. The large square enclosed by the water basins was filled with square flowerbeds.

The new fountain field, designed in 2021 by the Berlin architectural firm POLA, is located in Osnabrück Palace Gardens. It consists of fountains that dance up and down at different heights. The fountains are surrounded by rounded natural stone blocks made of granite and are located in the centre of a round natural stone circle on a gravelled surface.

The fountain has a complex and expensive water treatment system. To prevent legionella in the water, part of the well water is continuously replaced with fresh water. The remaining part in the circuit is disinfected with chlorine gas.
