Brunnenstein-Brunnen

Sculpture
Brunnenstein at the Kunsthalle

The fountain stone was designed in 1973 by architect Hans Tönnies, who was working at the Osnabrück Building Department at the time.
The fountain consists of a large, round red sandstone disc reminiscent of a millstone. The disc is supported by three round columns in a round basin.
After the restoration of the monastery complex, the fountain was added to the forecourt of the church to complement and support its rest and seating area. Originally, there were three fountains arranged in a circle around a central, significantly higher one. After repairs, the three outer fountains were taken out of service and only the central fountain was used.
