Edith Piaf is the epitome of French chanson and her sound would be unthinkable without the accordion. However, the accordion is the most blatant outsider in the music industry. Yet it was particularly popular in France and its sound immediately conjures up the smell of baguettes and the image of the Champs Elysee. The "Duo Sing Your Soul" pays tribute to the grande dame of chanson and has rearranged many of her immortal hits and enriched them with elements of jazz and musette nueve. With heart and soul, the two musicians dedicate themselves to Edith Piaf, whose great theme in life was love and who saved her Jewish pianist from the National Socialists. The duo will report on the mostly unknown work and musical life of Norbert Glanzberg in exciting presentations and introduce the emotional klezmer music, which also strongly influenced the Jewish composer in his work and at the center of which is the "singing clarinet" a la Giora Feidman. Ulrich Lehna and Meike Salzmann began their career with klezmer music and earned excellent reviews throughout Germany for their virtuoso concerts and inspiring presentations.
"The duo merges into a harmonious, orchestral body of sound, you have to revise everything you think you know about an accordion."
In 2023, the duo completed several concert tours throughout Germany, which led from Flensburg to Lake Constance, from the Moselle to the Rhön, to the Black Forest and the Harz Mountains to the Allgäu at the foot of the Alps, and several concert tours are planned again in 2024, with highlights in 2023 being concerts in former synagogues and in Switzerland, as well as a performance as soloists with the German Clarinet Choir in Flensburg.
