Dancing in the library will be possible for children on Friday, April 4 from 4 to 6 pm in the Osnabrück City Library at the Silent Disco on the occasion of the "Night of the Libraries".

Libraries are open, lively places for the entire urban society that offer much more than just borrowing books, which is to be emphasized in the first nationwide "Night of the Libraries". The city library is taking part and invites you to a silent disco, a headphone party where you can choose between three channels with the music genres rock, pop and electro. The appropriate disco lighting does the rest and the library can be discovered in a whole new way.

The city library already organized a silent disco for the 2019 Culture Night and landed the surprise hit of the evening. The long queue outside the library spoke volumes. After many requests for a repeat, the "Night of the Libraries" is now the perfect occasion to shake a leg again.

Since children dance at least as much as adults, a silent children's disco will be added to the event this time.

The event takes place on the occasion of the first nationwide "Night of the Libraries". With the Night of Libraries, the German Library Association and its 16 state associations want to draw nationwide attention to the wide range of offers and services provided by libraries and invite people to experience their libraries in a new way.

The first Night of Libraries took place in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2005, organized by the Association of Libraries of North Rhine-Westphalia (vbnw). From year to year, other federal states such as Schleswig-Holstein, Baden-Württemberg and libraries from Denmark, Belgium and South Tyrol have participated. At the suggestion of the vbnw, the Night of the Libraries will take place every two years in all 16 federal states from 2025.

Registration is not required. Admission is free.
