Series "Drama History"

The "Drama History" series approaches the topic of "remembrance culture" using the means of theater. It deals with the consequences of oppression and state despotism, ideological blindness and violence, racism and nationalism, flight and expulsion. "Drama Geschichte - Theater im Museumsquartier" gives history and stories a body and a voice. Themes come to life, moods and feelings become present and visitors are right in the middle of it all. Once or twice a year, the Museumsquartier invites you to an evening of theater followed by an audience discussion.

Ottla - Franz Kafka's Favourite Sister
The play based on the radio play by Petr Balajka, translated by Werner Imhof, realized by rimon productions.

Ottla David's life with her family in Prague and her deportation to Theresienstadt in 1942: When she arrives in the ghetto, she is assigned to look after the children in the orphanage. The Jewish camp doctor Felix Hershkovitz was also there. Ottla's letters to her two girls have been preserved and reveal events that came to a head. Ottla volunteered to accompany a children's transport to Sweden or Switzerland. Felix wanted to stop her in order to save her. After the war, he met her daughter Vera in Prague, who was searching in vain for her mother. For Ottla, the spiritual connection to her brother Franz Kafka was omnipresent even during this time, which is expressed in the play through direct and indirect quotes from Kafka.
