In August 2024, the world premiere of the musical "Maria. The Chosen One" by the St. Marien youth choir in the Marienkirche. The play about the life of the Mother of God will now be performed again on March 9 due to popular demand.
With ambiguous and humorous texts by Lothar Veit, set to music by KMD Carsten Zündorf, the young people tell and sing with great talent and enthusiasm about the eventful life of a woman who was unexpectedly faced with the incomprehensible task of being the mother of a very special child: Mary, the mother of Jesus. A life as told in the Bible and interpreted by various artists who have depicted the stages of Mary's life in pictures and sculptures in St. Mary's Church in Osnabrück. Tailored to the works of art in St. Mary's and to the parish's youth choir. An opportunity for everyone to experience this moving performance anew or anew and to go home afterwards with a new view of "our" St. Mary's Church!
