Manfred Heinze has been painting and drawing his biomorphic forms, which he calls cells, since 1977. What is special about them is the very simple form on the one hand and the complexity of the way these forms are put together on the other. He invented this at a very early stage of his artistic activity and, it can be said, pursued this concept throughout his life. This approach lends his work a continuity that can otherwise only be found in the world of forms in nature. For many millions of years, nature has varied with a very large, yet limited repertoire of forms, which it produces in an almost unlimited number of variations. Manfred Heinze as an artist does not search, does not try, does not doubt. He has his own chosen form, which seems to be destined for him, and he is also far removed from the need to break out of this cycle into other regions of art. His element, as simple as it is varied, is his form of calm, balance, meditation and, not to forget, boredom in its most positive manifestation. Even if this all sounds too simple and his actions are reminiscent of a monomania, the achievement to be celebrated lies in the daily, disciplined artistic practice of creating a multifaceted, varied work from the simple element of the cell, a work that is rich in variety and full of indispensable tension for art, thus making the infinity of possibilities clear to the viewer. Currently, the coarse pigment grains of Japanese Iwa-Enogu (mineral pigment) also help him to create a broken, multi-colored structure in his backgrounds and cells.

Since 1977, Manfred Heinze's works have been based on the following concept:
"Biomorphic forms, so-called cells,
cover completely or partially
different image carriers in
different colors,
sizes and painting techniques."
