It was called Schlesenburg, the settlement on the outskirts of the city where Galówka's apartment burned down in the summer of 89. We were sixty families, almost all of them from Poland. And suddenly there was a fear that Romanians or Russian-Germans would move in here. Half the castle looked at the asylum seekers' home with disgust. In his debut novel "Schlesenburg", author Paul Bokowski tells the story of refugees and those born here, of homesickness and a new home. A warm-hearted and bittersweet novel about the dream of adaptation and prosperity - and the question of where you belong when you don't know where you came from.
