How did the Weimar
Democracy become the Nazi dictatorship? What shaped the dictatorship? How did people behave under
this system? And
what does this mean for us personally
and for our liberal democracy
today? These and other
questions are explored on a tour of
the permanent exhibition at the Villa_
Forum for Remembrance Culture and
Contemporary History in the Museumsquartier
Osnabrück. Among other biographies,
that of the Osnabrück lawyer
Hans Georg Calmeyer plays a
central role. He saved thousands of Jews
during
National Socialism in the
Netherlands, but was also complicit in the
Nazi terror.
The tour also offers space
for discussion and personal
thoughts.
