Series "Topographies of Terror"

The lecture deals with the examination of the Holocaust and contributions to modern international law. It offers a didactic perspective on the emergence of the term "genocide" and the history of the "UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide" as a consequence of the Holocaust and the Second World War. Strong biographical references to the Jewish-Polish international law expert Raphael Lemkin and his contribution to the Convention are linked to the genesis of modern international law and its significance for the present and future.

The "Topographies of Terror" serve as an intensive and critical examination of the Nazi ideology and its time, particularly using regional examples. The lecture series is also generally dedicated to the phenomenon of dictatorship, authoritarian governance and their negative consequences for the open and free life of societies. In 2025, the liberation from National Socialism 80 years ago will be the occasion for various events.
