Flappi is a curious bat who asks himself questions about the sky. Why is it dark at night? What's up with the moon? Why can't you see the same spots of light in the sky every night that people call stars?
Flappi lives on a farm in a run-down barn. She is different from the other bats. For example, she doesn't sleep with her head hanging down, but upright. And it asks itself questions about the sky. Since she can't find any answers among her fellow bats, she goes out into the human world.
In the end, she discovers a strange house: an observatory. There she learns about stars, constellations and the moon. She finally learns why the moon changes its appearance and how the stars can be used to find the points of the compass. Deeply impressed, she continues her nocturnal journey and meets Skybat, a legendary bat from the moon. Together they look at the constellations and search for a new constellation in the sky: the bat.
