The 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War will be commemorated in 2025. Not long ago, people were still looking to a united Europe as the guarantor of "70 years of peace". Recently, the sirens have been wailing again in the fragile "common home of the EU". Erich Maria Remarque already described this mood in his novel "The Promised Land", which is set in the years 44/45. Between homesickness and asylum applications. It seems as if there is hardly any difference between "back then" and today in the way refugees, immigrants, the homeless, the persecuted and the desperate are treated. Ulrike Pepmöller, Sonja Schwarz, Hartmut Heyl and Rolf Westheider from heyl&segen put the novel on stage in a musical setting.
