Democracy is a challenge - every day. On around 120 square meters and in nine thematic stations, the exhibition highlights the political and social debates of the late 1960s to 1980s and links them to current challenges. The focus is on questions such as: What protects and threatens democracy? How social and sustainable is it? Historical documents, photographs and film footage offer a comprehensive insight into the period. Special emphasis is placed on the person of Helmut Schmidt, whose political and private activities are presented in detail.
