Faith and doubt, lament and praise, light and darkness: the songs of the Jewish songwriter Leonard Cohen, who died in 2016, reflect his life experiences. His song "Hallelujah" is a profound song about the realization that failure and praise of God are closely interwoven.

"Wounded I am and lifted up": with these words, spiritual teacher Pierre Stutz (Osnabrück) describes the same mystical experience. From a Christian perspective, the former priest pleads for a mysticism of everyday life that gives inner peace without suppressing the suffering of the world.

In conversation with Cohen biographer Uwe Birnstein, Pierre Stutz explores Leonard Cohen's mystical view and reads his own texts.

The conversation is complemented by a few songs by Leonard Cohen, presented by Uwe Birnstein (vocals/guitar).
