Why do we not see migration and diversity as a natural and opportunity-rich part of our past and present? And how can we prevent migrants and refugees from being blamed for the crises and insecurities of our time?
Our discussion begins in the Schmidt era - back then, in the 1970s and 1980s, important decisions were made for our subject area. From there, our experts will take us to the present day, which is - once again - characterized by polarization. Together, we will discuss how immigration and migration policy can be shaped and how a positive narrative of the migration society can be established.
Together with the University of Osnabrück, we, the Bundeskanzler-Helmut-Schmidt-Stiftung (BKHS), cordially invite you to the event "Challenge accepted: Das Wir in der Migrationsgesellschaft" at the Osnabrück University Library, Westerberg site.
The panel will discuss:
Dr. Noa K. Ha, Scientific Managing Director of the German Center for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM)
Dr. Patrice G. Poutrus, Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies, University of Osnabrück
Prof. Dr. Lale Yildirim, Didactics of History, Kiel University & SFB 1604
Moderation:
Dr. Magnus Koch, Head of Exhibitions and History, Bundeskanzler-Helmut-Schmidt-Stiftung (BKHS)
Registration is not required.
We look forward to talking to you and thinking together about shaping the future of society!
