Allan Mitchell's story is directly linked to the "Villa Schlikker". This is where his parents met and fell in love in 1945. Allan's father came to Osnabrück as an officer and helped to shape the transition from the Nazi dictatorship to a new legal status. His mother found a job in the British military authorities because of her knowledge of English. The reconstruction of his family history offers exciting insights into the circumstances of the immediate post-war period.
The event will be held in English.
The "Topographies of Terror" serve as an intensive and critical examination of Nazi ideology and its time, particularly using regional examples. The lecture series is also generally dedicated to the phenomenon of dictatorship, authoritarian governance and their negative consequences for the open and free life of societies. In 2025, the liberation from National Socialism 80 years ago will be the occasion for various events.
