Osnabrück Old Town

Place to see
The old town has a mix of owner-operated shops, cultural venues and gastronomy.

Cosy cafés, quaint pubs and historic buildings that tell stories: The people of Osnabrück feel at home in the old town and tourists are also amazed when they walk through the idyllic streets. From exquisite restaurants to coffee roasting houses, wine, gin, whisky or delicatessen shops to the numerous pubs, there is something for every taste.

The old town stretches from Heger Tor via Markt to Hasestraße and is easy to reach from the Altstadt railway station. Surrounded by historic buildings, the market square is the favourite place of many Osnabrückers who come together to meet at cultural and enjoyment festivals or the Historic Christmas Market. The surrounding alleyways invite you to browse in the owner-operated shops with fashion, delicatessen, arts and crafts. Culinary wise, the old town offers a wide variety from home cooking to modern cuisine.

The Tourist Information for Osnabrück and the Osnabrück region is located at the back of the historic town hall and right next to the 4-star Romantikhotel Walhalla, which celebrated its 325th anniversary in 2015.
