The first gentle chirping of spring is already breaking through the winter torpor. The mating doves flutter restlessly from branch to branch, the first daffodils push their green-yellow tips through the foliage and undergrowth. The sun, when it does make an appearance, is getting warmer by the day and leaves us later and later in the evening.
Spring is not far off and the countdown is on! Then finally - on 1 May - the starting signal for the Ippenburg garden season 2024 will be given. The Ippenburg gardens will then be open to visitors on all Sundays and public holidays until 18 August.
Ippenburg Castle, this "little piece of England" is one of the most famous private gardens in Germany. And one of the largest and most diverse. Lively and full of surprises, it is the result of over 40 years of growing, truly British garden passion by the "green baroness" Viktoria von dem Bussche.
Thousands of roses, perennials and summer flowers, Germany's largest and most lush kitchen garden, the enchanting forest island, the wilderness, the castle parterre and much more surround the imposing 60,000 square metre castle.
A Sunday in this garden paradise offers all generations the opportunity to enjoy nature together, which has almost disappeared from everyday life.
Whether a family outing, bike tour or day trip - in the Ippenburg gardens, whose diversity is truly unique, everyone will find their own paradise.
Garden lovers can collect ideas for their own garden and use the wide range of plants in the Ippenburg garden shop to realise their ideas straight away; children and young families can conquer the new water playground and the barefoot and nature trail; connoisseurs can let themselves drift carefree and meet friends for a picnic or in the Ippenburg castle café'
This is gardening pleasure for body and soul
The café takes care of the body. There is ice cream for the children - and not only for the children! Plus a great selection of home-baked cakes, tarts and savoury dishes. The Ippenburg Garden Hall in turn-of-the-century café style and the light-flooded summer parlour can accommodate over 100 visitors
Ippenburg Castle is more than just a garden. And it is not only the abundance of nature that inspires, but also and above all the abundance of inspiration, creativity and the desire for beauty that speaks from everything. Let's go into the 2024 season!
