At the end of 2023, the city of Osnabrück will open a new place of learning about the history of the Nazi era in the Villa im Museumsquartier. A place of learning about democracy is indispensable even in the eighth decade after the liberation from National Socialism. How can a possible social collapse of a democratic constitutional state be recognised and averted in time? Based on questions such as these, peaceful future perspectives for a progressive civil society are to be discussed and explored in future in joint dialogue at this former site of the Nazi dictatorship. With the reopening of the villa, the new conception of the museum quarter begun in 2017 will be completed.
For the 375th anniversary of the historically unique Westphalian peace treaty of 1648, the city of Osnabrück is launching a trend-setting annual programme in 2023.
