Nepal – Vom Piesberg zum Mount Everest

After more than 20 years, Dieter Grave from Osnabrück was drawn back to the Himalayas in Nepal. Back then it was the Annapurna circumnavigation with the crossing of Thorung La at 5,416 m. In 2024, his first trekking route took him to the Langtang National Park and the sacred lake at Gosainkund up to around 4,500 m. Breathtaking views of four of the 14 eight-thousanders (Cho Oyu, Mt. Everest, Lhotse and Makalu) and countless other mountains accompanied the daily hikes. In this report, Dieter Grave reports on his six-week journey to the roof of the world, from training on the Piesberg in Osnabrück to the ascent of Kala Patthar.
