Freiwilligendienst zeigt Gesicht – Geschichten eines Wertvolljahres

A year that changes: To mark the 60th anniversary of the Voluntary Social Year Act, the Diocese of Osnabrück is showing what commitment means with the exhibition "Voluntary service shows its face - stories of a valuable year". The traveling exhibition can be seen until 12 December on the 3rd floor of the district building and focuses on the people who have completed a Voluntary Social Year - with all their experiences, questions and discoveries.
District Councillor Matthias Selle recommends that young people take a closer look at the topic: "The exhibition shows what voluntary service can achieve - not only for society, but above all for the graduates themselves. The year creates encounters and formative experiences, for example by taking on responsibility and helping to shape the community."
To mark the anniversary, the Diocese of Osnabrück has turned its attention to today's volunteer services. The focus is not on organizations or programmes, but on the people themselves - young adults who talk about their experiences, challenges and insights. In short portraits, they talk about what moved, changed and enriched them: from finding their bearings in a new phase of life to discovering their own career aspirations and unexpected turns, such as finding true love. Expressive photographs accompany the personal texts and lend the stories a special authenticity.
After stops at the Forum am Dom and the Heilpädagogische Hilfe Osnabrück, among others, the exhibition can now be seen in the Kreishaus. It invites visitors to reflect on the value of volunteering - and possibly find inspiration for their own "year of value".
The exhibition can be seen on the third floor of the Osnabrück district hall from Monday to Wednesday from 8 am to 4 pm, on Thursdays from 8 am to 5.30 pm and on Fridays from 8 am to 1 pm.
