A "dream team" comes to us for an autumnal summit of chamber music: pianist Matthias Kirschnereit (whose fabulous piano playing has already been admired several times in Malgarten) needs no further introduction. The same goes for violinist Franziska Hölscher, who last enchanted Malgarten audiences in 2022 together with the Minguet Quartet in Ernest Chausson's Concerto for Violin, Piano and String Quartet. The two will be joined by cellist Alexej Stadler. He is also no stranger to Malgarten: In 2021, he performed alongside clarinettist Pablo Baragán and pianist Annika Treutler.
The first half of the concert is dedicated exclusively to Robert Schumann. His Phantasiestücke op. 88 can only be described as "great chamber music" - a fascinating opus!
This also applies to Dvorák's Dumky Trio, perhaps the Czech composer's most popular chamber music work. Its popularity with audiences is presumably due to the fact that Dvorák did not choose the classical form or sequence of movements, but instead had six (Ukrainian) dances follow one another. This brings joy to the audience and the musical fun could hardly be greater - especially when an interpretation at the very highest level can be expected.
